Men's Basketball Falls to Dominican, 73-65

Orangeburg, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team traveled to Orangeburg, N.Y. on November 17 to compete in the second game of the Dominican Tournament. The Panthers had a four point lead with 15 minutes left in the game, before falling 73-65. The loss drops Adelphi to 1-1 overall, while Dominican improves to 2-0.

Dominican jumped out to 14-4 lead early in the first half, but Adelphi fought back to tie the game at 21-21 with 4:23 remaining as Richard Byrd (Central Islip, NY) hit a jumper. Dominican then went on a 6-2 run to close the first half with a 33-29 lead.

In the second half, the Panthers took a four point lead, 44-40, with 15:07 left in the game as Alvin Vivican (Brentwood, NY) knocked down a three point bucket. However that would be the only lead Adelphi would have in the half as Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, GA) hit a big three point shot to give the Chargers a 48-45 lead en route to the 73-65 victory.

The Chargers were led by Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) who led all scorers with 19 points. Will Carty (Bronx, NY) added 13 points and five rebounds, while freshman Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) netted 10 points and six rebounds.

Adelphi was led by Byrd with 17 points and seven rebounds. Vivican and David Akinyooye (Elmont, NY) each finished with 11 points. While Chris Diasparra (Mahopac, N.Y.) pulled down eight rebounds.
