Adelphi Women's Soccer Prevails in Conference Match Against Mercy College

Oct. 9, 2007

Box Score

Dobbs Ferry, NY - The trip to Mercy College proved successful, as Adelphi Women's Soccer won 3-1 over the Mavericks. Erin Klimkowski (Westbury, N.Y.) netted two goals in the victory helping improve the Panthers to 7-4 overall, 4-2 in the ECC.

The match began relatively slowly until the Panthers struck at the 33-minute mark with a goal by Klimkowski off a corner kick by Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y). Nearing halftime, Jacki Walsh (Ronkonkoma, N.Y) broke away and scored her third goal of the season, second for the Panthers in the match.

Ashley Borofsky of Mercy was first to score in the second half, taking advantage of a direct kick opportunity, and cutting the Panther's lead to one. Her goal would remain unanswered until the 79-minute mark, when Brittany Hess (East Meadow, N.Y.) connected with Klimkowski for her second goal of the game, fifth of the season, and insured the Adelphi conference win.

Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made two saves in securing Adelphi's win. This is Conway's ninth game this season where she has only let up one goal or less.

Adelphi Women's Soccer continues their games on the road when they travel to Waltham, Massachusetts in a non-conference match up against Bentley College, October 13, at 3:00pm.
