Women's Soccer Sucessful in Rockville Centre

Rockville Centre, NY - Led by Brianne McDonnell (Commack, NY) and Denise Auer (Holbrook, NY), the Panthers topped the Molloy Lions, 4-1. With the duo of midfielders tallying two goals apiece, Adelphi women's soccer moves to 6-4 overall, 3-2 in the ECC.

The Panthers struck first in the 15th minute; a header on goal by McDonnell, set up by a cross from Amanda Popoli (South Salem, NY) found the back of the Lion net. Elise Maniguet (Pine Bush, NY) and Caitlin Morrison (Beacon, NY) made possible Adelphi's next goal, finding Auer in the 32nd minute where she was able to head it in.

Beginning on a corner offensive early in the second half, the Lady Lions tallied what proved to be their only goal of the match, when Dianna Geneva scored on a well-placed corner shot. Auer would answer with a goal unassisted at the 60-minute mark, pushing Adelphi's advantage to 3-1. On a breakaway 6 minutes later, McDonnell found the back of the net for her second goal the match.

Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, NY) made five saves during her 90 minutes in the net.

The Panthers will travel next to Dobbs Ferry, New York, where they will take on the Mercy College Mavericks, October 9th at 3:00 pm.
