Men's Soccer Falls to Howard, 2-1

Washington, DC - The Adelphi men's soccer team traveled to Washington, DC to take on Atlantic Soccer Conference foe Howard University on Sunday, October 21. The Panthers fell behind early, but knotted the game at one before the Bison pulled out a late 2-1 victory. The loss drops Adelphi to 2-10-2 overall and 1-2 in ASC play, while Howard improves to 3-3-5 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action.

The Bison took an early led when Joel Senior slipped a ball past Adelphi goalie Vincent Treglia, giving Howard a 1-0 lead. Lamar Hyde and Guilherme Fonseca were credited with assists. The game would enter halftime with Howard ahead 1-0.

Just over five minutes into the second half Adelphi was awarded a penalty kick that Patrick Figueiredo converted, pulling the Panthers even at one goal apiece. The game would remain tied until Hyde broke through the Panther defense with under a minute to play and netted the game winner with four second on the clock.

Treglia made two saves in the loss, while Victor Thomas collected the win.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 27 when they play host to Florida Atlantic University at 3:00 pm at Belson Stadium in Queens, New York.
