Box Score
Bridgeport, CT -
In East Coast Conference action, the Panthers lost a hard fought match to the Bridgeport University Knights, 2-0. The loss moves Adelphi to 4-3 in the ECC and 8-5 overall, while the Knights improve 7-1 in the ECC and 8-5 overall.
The Knights would strike first at 23:43, with a shot from the center of the box by Linda Velaj. Her goal would put Bridgeport up 1-0, and in combination with the Knight's defense only allowing Adelphi to four shots during the first half, limited the Panther's opportunity to match it.
The score remained unaltered until the final three minutes when Velaj scored her second goal of the match unassisted. The Panthers out shot the Knights nine to five but were unable to reach the back of the net. Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, NY) made seven saves in her 90-minutes of playing time.
The Panthers will next host the New Haven University Chargers at Tully Field, on October 21, at 4:00pm. This will mark the start of a three game home stand that will finish the Panther's regular season action.
