The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to East Coast Conference rival New Haven on Tuesday, October 16. The Panthers took the first two games, before the Chargers knotted the affair at two. Adelphi picked up the victory with a 15-12 win in the fifth game. The win brings Adelphi's overall record to 18-5, and 3-2 in the ECC, while New Haven falls to 16-4 and 4-1 in conference play.
Adelphi was in control early, taking the first game, 30-24. But New Haven found their rythmn in game two, forcing the Panthers to extra points before falling 32-30. Game three and four were all New Haven as the Chargers tied things up at two apiece with wins of 30-25 and 30-17. Adelphi found new life in the fifth game, roaring out to a leads of 6-1 and 9-3. New Haven would not quit, battling back to pull within three at 13-10, before Adelphi took the victory 15-12.
Rhe-Ann Niles led New Haven with 17 kills, while teammate Yael Rosner pitched in 50 assists and 20 digs.
The Panther offense was led by Kathleen Carney and Audrey Goss who had 19 and 14 kills respectively. Brittany Addeo picked up 49 assists, while Amy Williams racked up 29 digs.
