Women Cruise Past Concordia, 61-38

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team defeated Concordia College, 61-38, on Wednesday night at Woodruff Hall. The Panthers improve to 9-10 and 8-4 in the ECC. The Clippers fall to 0-19 and 0-12 in the ECC.

Junior Gianna Smith led all players with 18 points and nine rebounds. Junior Mary Lepore added 10 points and pulled down nine boards.

Adelphi opened a 10-0 lead over the first three minutes of play and never looked back. The Panthers held a comfortable 27-16 lead at the half.

The Panthers continued to dominate in the second half with their lead ballooning to 28 points on a trifecta by freshman Christina Rivera with 6:30 remaining.

The Panthers outrebounded the Clippers 58-35 and held its opponent to just 23.7 percent from the field.

Concordia was led by Danna Rommel with ten points and seven rebounds. Gianna Zonghetti had eight rebounds.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, February 6, hosting St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:30 p.m.
