Men's Basketball Falls To Molloy, 64-60

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team traveled to Rockville Centre, New York on January 25 to take on East Coast Conference (ECC) rival Molloy College. The Panthers took a 31-20 lead into halftime, before being outscored 44-29 in the second half of action, falling 64-60. With the loss the Panthers fall to 8-8 overall and 6-5 in the ECC, while Molloy improves to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

The Panthers controlled the action in the first 11 minutes of action, moving out to an 11 point lead, 19-8. Molloy cut the lead to seven on several occasions, but Adelphi used a 4-0 spurt to close the half with a 31-20 edge.

Molloy rallied early in the second half, cutting the Adelphi advantage to just two points thanks to a 9-0 run that lasted the first 1:52 of the second half. With the score 40-39 in Adelphi's favor Molloy got a made free throw from Vincent Falzone and a made free throw from Glenn Martin over two minutes later to take their first lead of the game, 41-40.

Adelphi managed to rally on a few occasions tying the game several times, including pulling to within one point with 1:02 to play on a Samuel Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y.) lay-up. But Molloy closed the half with a 6-3 run to secure a 64-60 win.

Falzone led Molloy with 18 points and 19 rebounds, while Glenn Martin chipped in 16 points.

Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the Panthers with 17 points and added 14 rebounds, while Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 17 points. Jenkins also reached double figures, scoring 13 points.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, January 27 when they take on NYIT in Old Westbury, New York.
