Oakdale, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team led, 24-15, at the half en route to a 51-46 victory over host Dowling College. The Panthers improve to 6-8 and 5-2 in the ECC.

Graduate student Dana Petersen led the Panthers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Graduate student Valentina Ionova also posted double digits for the second straight game, pouring in 11 points on a 4-for-5 effort off the bench.

Dowling threatened Adelphi's half-time lead, outscoring the Panthers 31-27 in the second half but were unable to close the gap. Dowling outrebounded Adelphi 44-29, yet were marred by turnovers. The Golden Lions committed 29 on the night, 11 forced by Adelphi. Junior Mary Lepore had five steals on the night.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, January 20, hosting the University of Bridgeport at 5:30 p.m. This is Take A Kid to the Game Day with all children under the age of 12 admitted free.
