The Adelphi men's basketball team was held to just 28 percent shooting in the first half of a conference match-up against Queens College. However, the Panthers bounced back, shooting 50 percent in the second half and holding the host Knights to just 19 points to pick up a 64-50 win. With the win Adelphi evens its overall record 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the East Coast Conference, while Queens falls to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
The Panthers shot just 28 percent in the first half, while Queens converted 35 percent of their attempts to take a 31-26 halftime lead. Adelphi clawed back in the second half, knotting the game at 35 and then used a 15-4 spurt to take control of the game, 50-39, and cruised to a 64-50 victory.
Lance Hazel led Queens with 13 points and six rebounds, while Mike Liander chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Khaleef Allicott also reached double figures scoring 10 points.
Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the high man for Adelphi with 20 points and he added five rebounds. Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Donnell Cummings (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) both contributed double dips. Mosby scored 14 points, on 5-6 shooting and pulled down 13 rebounds, while Cummings added 14 points on 6-8 shooting and grabbed 10 misses.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, January 17 when they travel to Oakdale, New York for a 7:00 pm meeting with Dowling.
