The Adelphi University volleyball team suffered two tough losses against Dowling College and UMass-Lowell this afternoon.  The Panthers fall to 10-6 on the season.
Junior Lauren Flanagan led the Panthers with 20 total kills and three blocks.  Junior Kathleen Creegan had 16 kills and 15 digs on the afternoon. Freshman Amy Williams and sophomore Samantha Johnston had 27 and 22 digs, respectively.  Senior Brittany Addeo combined for 64 assists.
Match One (vs. UMass-Lowell, 26-30, 30-14, 22-30, 28-30)
The Panthers struggled with poor hitting in game one connecting on just 11 of 40 attempts. Adelphi dominated in game two, holding UMass to a mere four kills. Sophomore Erica Valeriano served for Adelphi's final seven points to secure a 30-14 win. The Panthers trailed in game three by as much as nine points, 22-15 and were unable to sustain a rally. Adelphi led throughout game four holding a 28-23 lead, however the River Hawks took advantage of several Panther errors to finish on a 7-0 run for the win.
Flanagan led the Panthers with 15 kills, while Creegan added 11. Williams was the leading dig-getter with 19.
Match Two (vs. Dowling, 22-30, 9-20, 26-30)
After an even start, Dowling opened up a 10-4 lead and never looked back, taking game one, 30-22. The Panthers contined to struggle in game two, managing just four kills on 32 attempts. Adelphi jumped back in game three, staying within three points for most of the game. Trailing, 25-20, the Panthers rallied on a 6-2 run helped by four Golden Lions' errors.  However, Dowling had the last word and the win, 30-26.
