Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team snapped #25 Bryant University's four-game win streak with a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 1-0-1, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-1.

Bryant held an 8-2 shot advantage in the first half with junior goalkeeper Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) making six stops in the opening stanza. Sophomore Lauren Slattery (Nashua, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season and the game winning shot in the 33rd minute. Junior Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y.) sent a cross from the right side to a waiting Slattery who headed the ball past the Bryant goalie.

The game evened out in the second half, with the Bulldogs holding a slight 4-3 shot advantage. Bryant's best attempt to tie the game came in the final minute as Kelli Barker (Westfield, MA) sent a direct shot from 10 yards out which was deflected by a diving Conway.

Conway had nine saves in the game, while Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.) made one stop in the first half. Jessica Clark (Barnstable, MA) had one save in the second half for Bryant.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, September 6, when they host Kutztown University at 4:00 p.m.
