Garden City, N.Y. -
Senior Ron Forman tallied two goals, including the game winner, as the Adelphi University men's soccer team won its fourth straight contest this afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 5-4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Atlantic Soccer Conference. The Bison drop to 1-7-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Freshman Keith Rock (Dublin, Ireland) got the Panthers going early, putting Adelphi ahead 1-0 just 4:53 into the action with his second goal of the season. Seven minutes later Forman pushed the Panther advantage to 2-0 when he scored off of a corner kick.
Adelphi clung to the 2-0 lead until Howard's Joel Senior cut that margin in half in the 75th minute. However, Forman responded two minutes later, scoring off of a Diego Rosa (Sao Paulo, Brazil) assist to give the Panthers a commanding 3-1 lead.
Sophomore Patrick Figueiredo (Compinas, Brazil) put the game out of reach when he found the back of the Bison net from 18 yards out to make it a 4-1 game.
Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) collected two saves in the win, while Chris Taylory made six saves for Howard.
The last time that the Panthers scored four goals in a game was during the 2003 season, in a 4-2 win over Drexel.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 30 when they play host to ASC opponent Hartwick at noon.
