Volleyball Falls To Queens in Four Games

Flushing, N.Y. - The Adelphi volleyball team traveled to Flushing, New York to open up their East Coast Conference (ECC) schedule against Queens College. Queens pulled out a 3-1 victory to improve to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the ECC, while the Panthers fall to 8-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.

The Lady Knights jumped out to a hard fought 2-0 lead, taking game one 30-20 and game two by the count of 30-28. The Panthers finally broke through in game three, notching a 30-24 win. However, Adelphi could not complete the comeback falling 30-25 in the fourth game.

Karin Sauer led the Lady Knights with a game-high 19 kills, while teammate Jacquie Wicks picked up 14 digs. Dawn Richardson paced Queens with 35 assists.

The Panthers were led by Kathleen Creegan, who posted 12 kills and nine digs. Brittany Addeo led all players with a game-high 45 assists.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 16 when they take on the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at Nyack College.
