The Adelphi Volleyball team traveled to Millersville, Pennsylvania on September 8, 2006 to compete in the Millersville Tournament. The Panthers entered the two-day event with a record of 4-0 and compiled a mark of 3-1 in four matches to end play with an overall record of 7-1.
Adelphi opened the tournament on Friday with a 3-1 win over Wilmington College. Lauren Flanagan (Boulder, CO) led the way with 14 kills, while Brittany Addeo (Minden, NV) collected 36 assists and Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) added 12 digs.
The Panthers fell in their second match of the night to Slippery Rock, 3-0 (21-30, 23-30, 26-30). Flanagan led the team in kills with 12 and Addeo picked up 29 assists, while Johnston collected 21 digs.
Adelphi opened Saturday with a 3-1 win over host Millersville, 33-31, 30-26, 29-31, 30-24. Addeo tied her career-high with 54 assists, while Anna Gabbard (Columbus, IN) registered a career-high 19 kills. Johnston led the Panthers in digs for a third straight game with 27.
Adelphi closed out the tournament with a five game win over Shippensburg. The Panthers dropped the first two games, 30-32 and 6-30, before rallying back to take the next three games and the match, 30-25, 30-26 and 15-12. Flanagan and Kathleen Creegan (North Bellmore, N.Y.) collected 14 kills apiece, while Addeo notched 52 kills and Gabbard managed 22 digs.
Addeo and Flanagan were named to the All-Tournament team for their play during the tournament.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 when they play host to Pace at 7:00 pm in Woodruff Hall.
