Scott Allen Named Head Golf Coach

Aug. 4, 2006

Garden City, N.Y. - It was announced by Athletic Director Robert Hartwell that Scott Allen was named head golf coach at Adelphi University on August 3, 2006. Allen brings over ten years of coaching experience to Garden City.

Before coming to Adelphi, Allen started the men's golf program at Manhattanville College (NY) in 1999. There, he led the Valiants to three Skyline Conference championships (2001, 2002 & 2004) and five tournament titles overall. He also qualified Manhattanville for four ECAC Championships (1999, 2001, 2002 & 2004) and received a bid to the NCAA Northeast Regional in 2003.

Allen served as Head golf coach at Seton Hall University in 2003-04, where he taught Freshman English. He also led the Pirates to the Mt. St. Mary's (MD) Invitational title in 2004, and four top-ten finishes. The Mt. St. Mary's title was Seton Hall's first tournament win in four years.

"It is an exciting time to be at Adelphi, with the construction of the new athletic facility and the university's unwavering and obvious commitment to athletics," said Allen. "I hope to chaperon in a new era of men's golf at Adelphi."

The golf team will open up their 2006 season on September 8 at the Philip J. Rotella Golf Course in Thiells, New York at the STAC September Showdown.
