Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's lacrosse team was outscored, 7-2, in the third quarter, dropping their regular season finale to second ranked Dowling, 14-8. With the loss the Panthers close out the season 8-5 overall and 1-4 in the conference, while Dowling finishes 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the NYCAC.

Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) put the Panthers up, 1-0, off of a Dale Pescitelli (Shoreham, N.Y.) feed, just 1:39 into the action. Dowling's Ryan Campbell tied the game at one with 5:24 remaining, only to see Brendan Morgan (Bayside, N.Y.) put Adelphi back in front 19 seconds later. However, Campbell struck again at the 2:09 mark, followed by a Chris Dupignac goal with 1:12 on the clock, giving the Golden Lions a 3-2 edge after one quarter.

Andrew Ashkenazy (Oceanside, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the second quarter, pulling the Panthers even at three with 6:43 to play. Dowling responded with two goals from Dupignac and one from Campbell over the next four minutes to take a 6-3 lead. Green found the back of the net with 12 seconds remaining in the second quarter to pull Adelphi within two goals at the half, 6-4.

For the third quarter in a row, the Panthers got on the board first, cutting the Golden Lion lead to just one on a Stephen Mortimer (Adelaide, Australia) goal 20 seconds in. Then Dowling took control, reeling off four straight goals, before Green netted his third of the game, making the score 10-6. The Golden Lions then closed out the third period with three more goals, giving them a comfortable 13-6 cushion.

The Panthers would get two goals in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to overcome 14 Golden Lion goals. With the win, Dowling claimed a share of the NYCAC Championship along with C.W. Post and Mercyhurst.
