Game One
Dowling wasted no time, jumping out to a 1-0 lead after just one inning of play on the strength of an RBI double. Adelphi answered back in the top of the second, knotting the score at one when Brian Rath (Wantagh, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch, scoring Joe Maranino (Bronx, N.Y.).
The Golden Lions came right back, scoring a run in the bottom of the second on a fielder's choice and getting a third run in the bottom of the third on a walk to take a 3-1 advantage. The Panthers cut the lead to one, 3-2, on a Pat O'Neill (Oakville, CT) sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth, but Dowling answered again, getting three runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning to establish the final score, 6-2.
Game Two

Dowling used a two-run triple and a RBI single in the bottom of the third inning to stretch their lead out to four run, 5-1. Adelphi battled back again, using a Mike Connors (Babylon, N.Y.) two-run home run the top of the fourth to cut Dowling's advantage to just two runs, 5-3. However, the Golden Lions would not go away, producing three more runs over the next three and a half innings to pick-up an 8-3 win.
