Adelphi's offense came alive, scoring 19 runs on 18 hits, including five home runs, in a 19-4 rout of Concordia College. With the win the Panthers improve to 18-20 overall and 14-9 in the conference, while the Clippers fall to 22-23 overall and 11-12 in NYCAC action.
After a scoreless first inning, Concordia took a 2-0 lead on a two-run single. Adelphi responded in the top of the fourth with three-runs courtesy of a Stephen Malvagna (East Meadow, N.Y.) home-run, taking a 3-2 lead.
Mike Colonna (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off the fifth inning with a solo home run, giving the Panthers a 4-2 cushion. In the sixth Malvagna hit a solo shot over the left field wall, followed by a Nick Testani (Williston Park, N.Y.) two-run home run, which gave Adelphi a 7-4 lead with three innings to play.
Adelphi would tack on five runs in the top of the seventh and seven in the top of the eighth to secure a 19-4 conference win. Testani led the offense with a career-high seven RBI on 3-6 hitting, including two doubles and a home run.
Michael Myers (Wantagh, N.Y.) pitched five innings, striking out four and allowing four runs to pick up the win.
The Panthers return to action on Friday, May 5 when they play host to St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 pm.
