Lopez Sisters Lead #2 Adelphi Past Bentley, 20-7

Waltham, MA - Junior twin sisters Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) and Diana Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) led second ranked Adelphi to a 20-7 win over Bentley College in non-conference women's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon. Lauren Lopez had a game high eight points on six goals and two assists, while Diana had five goals and one assists. With the win Adelphi remains unbeaten at 14-0 on the season, while Bentley falls to 7-7.

Adelphi jumped out early scoring nine of the game's first ten goals. Diana Lopez and Meghan Blume (Bel Air, Md.) each had three goals out of Adelphi's first nine strikes of the afternoon. Liz Goddard (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) broke a seven goal run by Adelphi with Bentley's second goal with 4:15 remaining in the opening half. Two more goals by Adelphi were followed by a Kate Barry (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) goal with fours seconds left in the half to make the score 11-3 at the break.

The Falcons would come out firing at the beginning of the second half, scoring three of four goals to make the score 12-6 with 22 minutes remaining. The Panthers responded by scoring the next eight goals, four of which were netted by Lauren Lopez. Sophomore Leslie Bullis (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) concluded the scoring with 1:25 to play to make the final 20-7. Freshman Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) led the Falcons with five points on a pair of goals and three assists.

Senior goaltender Lisa Cavallo (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) played extremely well in goal for Bentley, making 14 saves on the afternoon, including ten in the opening half, while Allyson Murphy (Williston Park, N.Y.) made eight saves for Adelphi. The Panthers held a 41-19 edge in shots attempted and a 35-14 advantage in shots on goal.

Adelphi returns to action next Saturday, May 6, hosting #1 C.W. Post in its regular season finale at Stiles Field at 11:00 a.m.
