Box Score

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Adelphi led, 4-2, after three innings of action but were outscored, 5-1, over the final six innings, falling 7-5, to Molloy. With the loss the Panthers fall to 17-20 overall and 13-9 in the conference, while the Lions improve to 22-20 and 13-9 in the NYCAC.

Ricky Nicholson (Massapequa, N.Y.) started the scoring for Adelphi in the top of the third, driving in Mike Colonna (Staten Island, N.Y.) with a double to center field. Brian Rath (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed that up with a triple, scoring Nicholson. Rath was then driven in by a Stephen Malvagna (East Meadow, N.Y.) home run, which made the score 4-0 in favor of Adelphi.

Molloy got a two-run home run of their own in the bottom half of the third to pull to cut Adelphi's lead to two runs, 4-2. The Lions used another two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull even, 4-4, and took a one-run lead, 5-4, on an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lions used a home run and a RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to push their cushion to a comfortable 7-4 heading into the top of the ninth. Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) singled and would eventually score on a Molloy error, pulling Adelphi within two, 7-5, but the Panthers would get no closer.

Adelphi returns to action on Monday, May 1 when they travel to Bronxville, New York for a 1:00 pm meeting with Concordia College.
