Box Score
Worchester, MA -
Junior Tara Grodotzke tallied three of her five goals in the first half for a career best effort to lead the #2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team to a 17-3 non-conference win at Assumption. The Panthers improve to 13-0, while the Greyhounds fall to 3-10.
Adelphi held Assumption scoreless in the first half, while amassing a 10-0 lead. Junior Lauren Lopez struck first in the second minute of play on a feed from senior Dawn Anselmin. Junior Meghan Blume scored the first of her two goals on a free position to make it 2-0. Freshman Rachel Ray followed with back-to-back goals. In addition to Grodotzke's three first-half goals, she also assisted on a shot by senior Jayna Kyriacou in the 28th minute.
Assumption opened the second half with a goal from Jenny Mongeau in the 32nd minute. She would account for all three of the Greyhounds second half goals, but it was not enough. Ray added two more goals in the second half, both on assists from junior Diana Lopez. Lauren Lopez had the final word, scoring her third goal of the day with 2:20 remaining in the game.
Junior Allyson Murphy collected her 13th straight win, playing the first 30 minutes for two saves. Freshman Christina Kozakiewicz finished the remaining 30 minutes in goal, making four saves. Nicole Johnson made 17 stops for the Greyhounds.
The Panthers return to action tomorrow, continuing their Massachusetts road trip at Bentley College. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
