#5 Men's Lacrosse Falls To #4 C.W. Post, 15-7

Brookville, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's lacrosse team trailed just, 6-5, at the half, but were outscored, 9-2, in the final two periods of action, falling, 15-7, to host C.W. Post. With the loss the fifth ranked Panthers fall to 8-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the fourth ranked Pioneers improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the NYCAC.

Rob Blount opened the scoring, putting the Pioneers ahead 1-0, less then three minutes into the game. Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) answered back for Adelphi, knotted the game at one just 56 seconds later. Then C.W. Post reeled off three straight goals, the last giving the Pioneers a 4-1 advantage with 5:20 remaining in the first.

Green responded again, scoring Adelphi's next two goals, pulling the Panthers to within one, 4-3, with 14:35 remaining in the second quarter. C.W. Post and Adelphi would exchange goals twice in the last six minutes of the second period, the last goal coming with just 26 remaining in the quarter, to pull the Panthers within one at the half, 6-5.

C.W. Post opened the third period of action with two straight goals, before Green stopped the bleeding with his fifth goal of the game. The Pioneers reeled off two more, before Dale Pescitelli (Shoreham, N.Y.) halted the run with a goal at the 13:38 mark in the fourth, cutting C.W. Posts edge to three, 10-7.

From there it was all Pioneers, as C.W. Post closed out the game with 5-0 run to claim a 15-7 victory. Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y.) made 14 saves in goal for Adelphi, while Mike Rimmer made 10 saves for C.W. Post.

The Panthers will close out the regular season on Saturday, May 6 when they play host to Dowling College at 1:00 pm on Stiles Field.
