Baseball Undone By C.W. Post, 18-6

Brookville, N.Y. - The Adelphi baseball team gave up 14 runs in the first three innings of action and never recovered, falling 18-6 in conference action to C.W. Post. With the loss Adelphi falls to 6-14 overall and 3-4 in NYCAC play, while the Pioneers improve to 6-17-1 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

C.W. Post scored 14 runs on 14 hits over the course of the first three innings to enter the fourth inning with a commanding 14-0 edge. The Panthers finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two runs on a Ricky Nicholson (Massapequa, N.Y.) single and a Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) sacrifice fly.

However, the Pioneers added another run in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach and take an 18-2 lead on their way to an 18-6 win.

Bobby Lanigan (Staten Island, N.Y.) was credited with the loss after pitching two thirds of an inning, giving up four hits and six unearned runs. Bobby Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.) went seven and two thirds for C.W. Post to pick up the win.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, April 4 when they play host to New Haven at 3:00 pm.
