#6 Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Molloy, 13-8

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's lacrosse team dominated action in the first and third periods, outscoring host Molloy by a combined count of, 9-3, on their way to a 13-8 conference win. With the win the sixth ranked Panthers improve to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the NYCAC, while seventh ranked Molloy suffers their first loss, falling to 8-1 and 0-1 in conference action.

Adelphi got off to a hot start, using an Andrew Ashkenazy (Oceanside, N.Y.) goal just 58 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers extended their lead to 2-0 on a Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) goal with 9:10 remaining. Molloy halted Adelphi's march with a goal at the 6:13 mark, before the Panthers tacked on two more, from Green and Brendan Morgan (Bayside, N.Y.), to end the first frame with a 4-1 lead.

The second period was a decidedly Molloy affair as the hosts outscored Adelphi 3-1, converting one of three extra man opportunities to enter the half trailing by just one, 5-4. But the Panthers roared back in the third period, reeling off four straight goals at one point, to end the third with a 10-6 cushion.

Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y.) made 13 saves, including three in the final period to preserve a 13-8 victory for Adelphi. Joe Labella made 19 saves to keep Molloy close.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 22 when they take on NYIT at 1:00 pm on Stiles Field.
