Baseball Out Pitched By Pace, 4-1

April 14, 2006

Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi baseball team gave up three runs in the first and never recovered, falling 4-1 to visiting Pace University. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 10-16 overall, while Pace improves to 21-9 on the season.

Pace started the game hot, scoring three runs in the first inning on four hits off of Adelphi starter, Chris Palladino (East Meadow, N.Y.), to exit the top of the first inning with a 3-0 advantage. But, from there Palladino would calm down and stifle the Setters offense, allowing just one run and three more hits in six more innings of work.

However, Pace starter David Qualben (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was just as good, pitching eight innings, striking out eight and allowing one run. Bryan Horrmann (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) drove in the only run Pace gave up in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Michael Aliperti (East Setauket, N.Y.) on a sacrifice fly to center.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 15 when they travel to Flushing, New York to take on Queens College.
