Box Score
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. -
The Adelphi baseball team smacked 19 hits and scored 16 runs in handling Mercy College 16-2. With the win the Panthers run their current win streak to four games, while improving to 10-14 overall and 7-4 in the NYCAC. The loss drops the Flyers to 5-18 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
Stephen Malvagna (East Meadow, N.Y.) gave Adelphi an early 1-0 lead, grounding out to short, which allowed Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) to score. Malvagna helped push Adelphi's cushion to 4-0 in the top of the third inning with a no out three-run home run.
That was more then enough run support for Bobby Lanigan (Staten Island, N.Y.), who went eight innings, struck out eight, while scattering nine hits and giving up two runs to pick up his third win of the season.
The Panthers offense added a fifth run in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth to edge out to a 7-0 lead. But, Adelphi erupted for eight runs in the top of the eighth to put the game out of reach, 15-0.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, April 12 when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut for a meeting with NYCAC rival New Haven.
