Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Panthers held visiting Bentley scoreless for the first 26:53 of the second half, building a 17-5 lead en route to a 17-6 win. With the win fourth ranked Adelphi improves to 6-1 overall, while Bentley falls to 1-4 on the season.

Bentley drew first blood and found themselves ahead 2-1, 9:03 into the first quarter thanks to man-up goals from Dan Scavone (Franklin Lakes, NJ) and Jeff Smrecek (West Springfield, MA). But, the Panthers responded by reeling off four straight goals, to take a 5-2 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Falcons kept pace in the second period as each team posted three goals, giving the Panthers an 8-5 halftime edge. However, from there it was all Adelphi, as the Panthers took over in the start of the third.

The Panthers outscored Bentley 2-0, getting goals from Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) and Brendan Morgan (Bayside, N.Y.) to enter the final frame with a 10-5 lead.

Adelphi ripped off seven goals in a span of less then ten minutes to take a 17-5 lead with 5:05 remaining, essentially putting the game out of reach. Michael Gongas (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Morgan accounted for five of the seven goals during the run.

Chris White (Billerica, MA) made 12 saves, including seven in the first half to keep Bentley in the game, while Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y.) collected seven saves and his sixth win of the season.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 8 when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania to take on Mercyhurst at 1:00 pm.
