West Palm Beach, Florida - Freshman Bobby Lanigan (Staten Island, N.Y.) pitched seven strong innings, striking out 10 to lead the Panthers to their first victory of the season, 7-3, over Palm Beach Atlantic. With the win, Adelphi halts a four-game skid and improves to 1-4 overall, while Palm Beach Atlantic falls to 6-19.

The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead just a half inning into the game, when Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) singled and then scored on Bobby Calca's (Elmont, N.Y.) single to left field. However, the Sailfish got two runs in the bottom of the first when Kris Wellmaker drove in Raybo Lisle, followed by Wellmaker scoring on a wild pitch, giving Palm Beach Atlantic a 2-1 edge after one.

The Sailfish pushed their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third when James Gladding singled to center, driving in Wellmaker. Then Adelphi took control, scoring four runs in the top of the fifth on six hits. Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) led off the inning with a single to center, followed by Anderson reaching on a fielder's choice.

Calca singled, driving in driving in Cali, making the score 3-2. Then Bryan Horrmann (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) singled to right field, allowing both Calca and Anderson to score, giving Adelphi their first lead of the game, 4-3. Nick Testani (Williston, Park, N.Y.) capped the inning by singling to center to drive home Horrmann and give the Panthers a 5-3 edge.

Lanigan took care of the rest, giving up three earned runs, four hits and striking out 10 in seven innings of work. Michael Myers (Wantagh, N.Y.) pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out two to pick up his first save of the year.

The Panthers return to action on Thursday, March 16 when they face Barry University at 6:00 pm in Miami Shores, Florida.
