Box Score

Augusta, GA - The Adelphi baseball team held host Augusta State to just one run through four innings, but allowed four runs in the bottom of the fifth and six runs in the bottom of the sixth as the Jaguars blew the game wide open on their way to a 17-3 win. With the loss Adelphi falls to 0-4, while Augusta State ends the four game series with an overall record of 8-12.

The Panthers stranded a runner on base in each of the first two innings, allowing Augusta State to get on the board first. The Jaguars opened the bottom of the second with a triple and drove the run in at the next opportunity to take a 1-0 edge.

Adelphi knotted the game at one in the top of the fourth when Mike Colonna (Staten Island, N.Y.) singled to center, driving in Bobby Calca (Elmont, N.Y.) who reached base on an error. The Panthers then held Augusta State scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to keep the game tied at one.

Then the Jaguar bats woke-up, knocking out eight hits and ten runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take a commanding 11-1 lead. Augusta State tacked on six more runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach, 17-1.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, March 15 when they take on Palm Beach Atlantic at 6:00 pm, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
