The Adelphi University women's basketball team saw its six-game win streak come to an end with a tough 66-60 loss at the University of Bridgeport last night. The Panthers fall to 12-9 and 11-3 in the NYCAC while the Purple Knights improve to 14-6 and 11-3.
Senior Carlyshia Hurdle and sophomore Mary Lepore had 14 points apiece. Sophomore Gianna Smith added 13 points.
Trailing by as much as 18 points in the first half, the Panthers closed to within one point with 1:09 remaining in the contest. Adelphi struggled from the field, connecting on just 24-of-61 and going 0-9 from three-point range. The Purple Knights dominated the boards, outrebounding the Panthers 52-25.
Bridgeport was led by Angelina Jimenez with a game-high 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Adelphi continues its four-game road trip on Thursday, February 9 at C.W. Post. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
