Men's Basketball Clips the Flyers, 79-60

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball held host Mercy College to just 26 points on 28 percent shooting in the first half en route to a 79-60 win. The win pushes Adelphi's current win streak to eight games and gives them an overall record of 16-4 and 12-1 in the conference, while the loss drops the Flyers to 4-15 overall and 2-11 in NYCAC action.

The Panthers jumped on Mercy from the top, opening the game with a 12-0 run over the first 4:07 of play. Adelphi's bulge was still at 12 with 11:19 remaining in the first half when five points from Sean Corrigan (Hicksville, N.Y.) sparked the Panthers to a 9-0 run that made the score 28-7 with 8:40 left.

Mercy battled back to creep within 14 points with 1:29 on the clock on two made free throws by Victor Sidberry. But Adelphi outscored the host Flyers, 5-2 over the final 1:30 to enter the half with an 18 point edge, 44-26.

The Flyers cut Adelphi's lead to just 11, 52-41, early in the second half before the Panthers used a quick 7-0 run to retake control and cruise to a 79-60 victory.

Dominick Cuzzi led Mercy with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Chanze Wellington chipped in 10 points.

The Panthers were led by Kimani Blaize's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 22 points. Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Aaron Cummings (Bay Shore, N.Y.) chipped in 13 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, February 7 when they travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut for a 7:00 pm meeting with the Purple Knights.
