Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Freshman Lisa Manetta connected on 11-of-13 from the free throw line down the stretch to lift the Adelphi University women's basketball team past Mercy College, 75-63. The Panthers have now won their last six straight, improving to 12-8 and 11-2 in the NYCAC.

Sophomore Mary Lepore led all scorers with 23 points along with nine rebounds. Senior Carlyshia Hurdle added 14 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Gianna Smith chipped in 10 points.

Both teams shot 56 percent from the field in the first half, keeping things close, 40-35. In contrast, the second half saw both shoot less than 30 percent.

The Panthers led throughout until the Flyers tied the game at 42 on a three-point basket by Christine Hafner at 16:14. Mercy led by as much as three points when Lepore drained a three-pointer to knot the score for the third time. This spurred a 9-0 Adelphi run, but Mercy would not go away, closing to within three, 60-57, with 5:53 remaining. Manetta contributed 13 of her 19 points in the final minutes to ensure the win.

Christine Hafner and Christina Baxter each had 16 points for Mercy College.

Adelphi returns to action in Tuesday, February 7, traveling to the University of Bridgeport for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
