The Adelphi University women's basketball team snapped a three game losing streak with a convincing 67-35 win over Dowling College on Tuesday night at Woodruff Hall. The Panthers, who have already clinched a NYCAC playoff spot, improve to 13-11 and 12-5 in the league. The Golden Lions fall to 7-16 and 5-11.
Adelphi held Dowling to just 18.5 percent from the field and forced 22 first half turnovers. Sophomore Mary Lepore tallied nine of her game-high 17 points in the first stanza as the Panthers went into the intermission with a comfortable 29-11 lead.
Dowling's shooting woes continued in the second half. On the night, the Golden Lions were 1-of-11 from three-point range and 45.5 percent from the charity stripe. In contrast, Adelphi had three players in double figures. Senior Carlyshia Hurdle registered 15 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Lisa Manetta added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.
