Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team held their fourth team this season to 40 points or less, claiming a 53-38 victory over visiting Dowling College. The Panthers forced 18 Dowling turnovers to help push their current win streak to 12 games. With the win Adelphi improves to 20-4 overall and 16-1 in the conference, while Dowling drops to 5-18 and 4-12 in the NYCAC.

Adelphi and Dowling battled back and forth during the opening ten minutes of play, exchanging the lead four times and finding themselves deadlocked on three occasions. However, at the 8:00 minute mark Jamaal Wagner (Jamaica, N.Y.) converted a lay-up to break a 16 all tie and spark a 14-3 run that gave Adelphi a 30-19 halftime edge.

The Panthers opened the second half with a three-pointer from Donnell Cummings (South Ozone Park, N.Y.), pushing their advantage to 14 points, 33-19. Adelphi's lead was cut to eight, 33-25, when Raheim Lowery (Brooklyn, N.Y.) converted one of two free throws with 16:38 remaining.

That was as close as Dowling would get, as Adelphi's lead would balloon to 17 points on a Wagner jumper with 8:56 remaining in the game. The Panthers went on to lead by as many as 20 points before settling on the final margin of 15, 53-38.

Lowery led Dowling with a game-high 24 points on a perfect 10-10 shooting, he also pulled down nine rebounds.

Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the lone Panther in double figures with 11 points, teammate Wagner also had a solid game, scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds.

The Panthers return to action on Thursday, February 16 when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut for a 7:30 pm meeting with New Haven.
