Senior Jaime Julia-Perez (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and sophomore Lisa Manetta (Glendale, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of December 4, 2006.
Julia-Perez led the men to a sixth place finish at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Relay Carnival. He won the 5000 meter run in a time of 15:25.23, out distancing second place by 10 seconds. He also anchored the distance medley relay team to a second place finish. In all Julia-Perez had a hand in 10 Panther points.
The Adelphi track and field team will return to action on Friday, December 8 when they travel to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Princeton New Year's Invitational.
Manetta helped the Panthers two a 2-0 week, averaging 16 points per game last week, including scoring a team-high 19 points in Adelphi's overtime win against NYIT. She added four assists and four steals against NYIT and picked up 13 points, two assists and three rebounds in a win over Concordia.
Women's basketball returns to action on Saturday, December 9 when they travel to Sparkill, New York for a 1:00 pm game.
