The Adelphi volleyball team played host to cross town rival, C.W. Post on Thursday, October 5 in Woodruff Hall. The Panthers scored 30 or more points in all four sets, pulling out a 3-1 victory. With the win Adelphi improves to 11-6 overall and evens their conference mark at 2-2, while C.W. Post falls to 12-10 overall and 1-3 in East Coast Conference play.
Adelphi found themselves down 23-20, but scored 10 of the last 12 points in game one to pick up a 30-25 win. The Pioneers eked out a 34-32 win in game two to pull even at one game apiece. Game three was just as back and forth as the first two games, with C.W. Post leading 23-12, before Adelphi used an 11-9 run to squeak by 32-30. The Panthers led 27-22 late in game four, before the Pioneers stormed back to push the game to the limit with Adelphi coming out on top 35-33, picking up the game and the match win.
Lucia Krskova led C.W. Post with a game-high 19 kills and 10 digs, while teammate Jessica Lubeski added 10 kills and 15 digs. Aisha Sealy chipped in 35 assists.
Brittany Addeo (Minden, NV) led the way for Adelphi with a game-high 51 assists, while Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) and Deanna Maggio (Island Park, N.Y.) contributed 28 and 21 kills, respectively. Lauren Flanagan paced the offense with 14 kills, while Maggio added 12 and Audrey Goss (Birmingham, AL) collected 11 kills.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 7 when they travel to St. Rose to take on Franklin Pierce.
