Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale, 3-1

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi volleyball team hosted Georgian Court University in the regular season finale, falling 3-1 (22-30, 30-32, 30-27 and 23-30). The loss drops Adelphi to 14-11 overall, while Georgian Court improves to 19-10.

Adelphi hung with Georgian Court early in game two before a late Lion rally gave the visitors a 30-22 win. In game two Georgian Court jumped out to a quick 7-4 lead before the Panthers knotted the game at 14. From there it was back and forth until the score was tied at 30, before the Lions scored the final two points to take a two games to none lead.

The third game went Adelphi's way with the Panthers holding Georgian Court to just eight kills, escaping with a 30-27 win. The fourth game swung back to the Lions, with Georgian Court picking up a 30-23 game win and a 3-1 match victory.

Ann Casado led the Lions with 11 kills, 16 assists and 10 digs. Teammate Ana Cruz chipped in 17 digs, while Rebecca Walczak added 16.

Brittany Addeo (Minden, NV) led all players with 32 assists Jessica Walsh (West Hempstead, N.Y.) collected 17 digs and Erica Valeriano (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) picked up 16.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, November 1 when they participate in the first round of the East Coast Conference tournament.
