The Adelphi volleyball team traveled to Old Westbury, New York on Tuesday, October 24 to close out their regular season conference schedule against NYIT. The Panthers fought back from two games down, but could not pull out the win, falling 3-2. With the loss Adelphi falls to 14-10 overall and 5-4 in the East Coast Conference (ECC), while NYIT improves to 16-6 overall and 6-2 in ECC play.
NYIT took the first two games by identical 30-27 scores despite collecting just 27 combined kills, compared to Adelphi's 36. Momentum shifted in game three as the Panthers collected 18 kills and picked up a 30-27 win. Game four went to extra points, with Adelphi pulling out a 33-31 win to force a fifth and final game, which NYIT won, 15-11.
Darya Skrypka led the Bears with 15 kills, while Shelby Klein added 14 kills and 14 digs. Lindsey Buss filled up the box score for NYIT, collecting 46 assists, 15 digs and nine kills.
Both Jessica Walsh (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) posted 19 kills, while Walsh added 15 digs and Johnston contributed 16. Brittany Addeo (Minden, NV) posted a game-high 58 assists.
The Panthers close out their regular season on Saturday, October 28 when they play host to Georgian Court at 1:00 pm in Woodruff Hall
