The Adelphi women's soccer team played host to East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Molloy College on Saturday, October 21. Adelphi out shot Molloy, 13-1, en route to a 3-0 victory, improving to 11-1-4 overall and 6-1-2 in the ECC, while Molloy falls to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Erin Klimkowski (Westbury, N.Y.) put Adelphi on the board in the 18th minute when she beat a Molloy defender and then slipped the ball past the goalie, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. With just minutes left in the half Tara Grodotzke (Rocky Point, N.Y.) gave Adelphi some breathing room, collecting a pass from the corner and then finding the back of the Molloy goal to send the Panthers into the half with a 2-0 advantage.
Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y.) put the game out of reach in the 77th minute of play when she chipped the ball over the goalkeepers head for her fourth goal of the season. Adelphi goalie Christine Conway was untested, collecting one save and registering her eighth shutout of the season.
Adelphi returns to action on Monday, October 23 when they close out the regular season by hosting Mercy College at 3:00 pm.
