Women's Soccer Rolls Past STAC, 6-0

Sparkill, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team defeated St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-0, in conference action this afternoon. The Panthers improve to 10-1-4 and 5-1-2 in the ECC.

The Panthers tallied all six goals in the first half. Sophomore Erin Klimkowski (Westbury, N.Y.) recorded the first of her two goals in the fourth minute of play. Freshman Caitlin Morrison (Beacon, N.Y.) struck next at 7:56 on an assist from senior Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.).

Morrison followed with a feed to Klimkowski at 13:57 to make it a 3-0 game. Senior Michelle Giovanniello (Nesconset, N.Y.) found the back of the net on a solo play in the 17th minute. Senior Tara Grodotzke (Rocky Point, N.Y.) kept the rally going in the 27th minute with help from junior Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y.). Freshman Amanda Popoli (South Salem, N.Y.) registered her first collegiate goal for Adelphi when she accounted for the final point of the day on a cross from sophomore Marissa Cannella (Cornwall, N.Y.).

Adelphi shut down its offense in the second stanza, taking just four shots as compared with 14 in the first half. The Spartans managed just three shots in the entire match, with two saved by junior Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, N.Y.). Grodotzke made her first collegiate appearance in goal as she stood guard for the final 34:33 minutes of action.

The Panthers are back in action this Saturday, October 21, as they host Molloy College at 1:00 p.m. The team's senior class will be recognized before the start of the game.
