Men's Soccer Plays Longwood To A Tie, 1-1

Farmville, VA - The Adelphi men's soccer team traveled to Farmville, Virginia on Friday, October 13 to take on Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) opponent Longwood University. The Panthers struck first but Longwood knotted the score at one to collect a tie. With the tie Adelphi is currently 7-5-1 overall and 3-0-1 in ASC play, while Longwood is 3-7-4 overall and 0-1-2 in the conference.

The Panthers jumped on Longwood early, striking in the second minute of action when Patrick Figueiredo (Compinas, Brazil) scored his fifth goal of the season to put Adelphi on top 1-0. After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless play Sean Harney pulled Longwood even when he slipped a ball into the Adelphi net, receiving a pass from Brian Germain.

Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) preserved the tie, making five saves in the game, including one in the second half and each overtime period. Brandt Youmans collected four saves for Longwood.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 21 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on Philadelphia University at noon.
