Box Score

Oakdale, N.Y. - The Adelphi volleyball team traveled to Oakdale, New York to take on Dowling College on Tuesday, October 10. The Panthers were in the mix each game, but could not pull out a win, falling 3-0. With the loss Adelphi falls to 11-9 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Dowling improves to 22-5 overall and remains unbeaten in East Coast Conference action at 5-0. The Panthers put up a fight in game one as the teams battled for each point. Irina Belozerova (St. Petersburg, Russia) broke the 26-26 tie and three straight Golden Lion kills gave Dowling a 30-26 win in game one.

The Panthers ironed out their mistakes at the net and really got rolling in game two. Kathleen Creegan (North Bellmore, N.Y.) would bring Adelphi within four, but it would be as close as they could get as Dowling pushed for the 30-22 game two win.

Game three was another nail-biter, as Adelphi would hold a lead over the Golden Lions for most of the game. Adelphi held a 26-22 edge before Dowling used an 8-1 run to steal a 30-27 victory and the match.

Marta Slodnik (Gdynia, Poland) registered a match high 13 kills and Belozerova pitched in with 10. Rachel Zulick (Albuquerque, NM) handed off 31 assists.

Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) led both teams with 15 digs and Creegan tallied a team-high nine kills for the Panthers. Brittany Addeo (Minden, NV) also chipped in 21 assists.

Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, October 12 when they travel to Bronxville, New York to take on Concordia College.
