Men's Basketball Turns Up The Defense On STAC, 80-48

Sparkill, N.Y. - Adelphi and St. Thomas Aquinas battled back and forth over the first few minutes of action, before the Panthers used an 18-4 run over a 7:37 to take a 23-9 lead. Sean Corrigan (Hicksville, N.Y.) capped the run with back-to-back three-pointers.

The Panthers continued to control play, taking a 34-15 lead with 4:31 to play on two Eric Martin (Laurelton, N.Y.) made free throws, before entering halftime with a 19 point, 38-19 advantage.

Not even halftime could cool the Panthers down as Adelphi came out of the locker room and extended their lead to 29 points, 50-21, with 15:29 remaining on a Jamaal Wagner (Jamaica, N.Y.) jumper. Adelphi took their largest lead of the game, 70-34, at the 6:17 mark on a Ben Kenyon (Union, NJ) free throw and then cruised to an 80-48 victory.

Chris Williams was the only Spartan in double-figures, scoring 17 points, including hitting on 13-14 free throw attempts.

Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Panthers with 20 points on 7-11 shooting, including 4-5 from beyond the arc. Donnell Cummings (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) posted his first career double double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards. Teammates Martin and Aaron Cummings (Bay Shore, N.Y.) also reached double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Panthers return to action on Thursday, January 26 when they play host to C.W. Post at 7:30 pm in Woodruff Hall.
