Seton Hall scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of action and the Panthers never recovered, falling 6-0. With the loss Adelphi falls to 1-2 overall, while #19 Seton Hall remains unbeaten at 3-0.
The Pirates opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Sacha Kljestan (Huntington Beach, CA) headed the ball to Eliseo Guisfredi (Paterson, NJ). Guisfredi settled the ball and beat Adelphi goalkeeper Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) to make the score 1-0. Seton Hall made it 2-0 when Justin McGrath (Brick, NJ) sent a Pirate cross into the back of the Panther goal.
Seton Hall struck twice in the 41st minute of action just 20 seconds apart to head into the half with a comfortable 4-0 edge. Michael Zotti (Scotch Plains, NJ) added two more goals for Seton Hall in the second half to provide the final, 6-0, margin of victory.
Seton Hall outshot Adelphi 24-8, while Hurley collected nine saves in the loss. Pirate goalie Boris Pardo (Hillside, NJ) was untested in collecting his second shutout of the season.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, September 11 when they take on Syracuse University at 1:00 pm in Syracuse.
