The Adelphi University women's soccer team defeated Molloy College, 6-1, in conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 3-2-1 and 2-0 in the NYCAC.
The Panthers opened the scoring just four mintues into play as freshman Erin Klimkowski scored the first of her two goals on an unassisted shot. Junior Lauren Lopez gave Adelphi a 2-0 lead on a dish from senior Shannon McEntee in the 15th minute. The Lions answered with a goal from Colleen Norcott to cut the deficit to one. Lopez picked up her second goal just 1:30 later to give Adelphi a 3-1 halftime advantage.
The second half was all Adelphi as senior Lea Brady assisted on the first two goals and then scored her own as the Panthers cruised to victory.
Sophomore Christine Conway tallied three saves in the contest while Molloy's Melissa McCarthy had nine saves.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 24, traveling to Old Westbury, N.Y. to face NYIT at 12:00 noon.
