Men's Soccer Edged By Saint Joseph's, 3-2

Brooklyn, N.Y. - Junior Einar Oddsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) tied the game at two with just over six minutes to play in the first half, but the Panthers could not complete the comeback, falling 3-2 to St. Joseph's. With the loss Adelphi falls to 1-4-1 on the season and finished fourth in the LIU-Brooklyn Soccer Classic, while St. Joseph's improved to 1-3-0 and claimed third place.

Adelphi opened the scoring in the 11th minute when junior Dieudonne Nonga (Douala, Cameroon) notched his second goal of the year off of a feed from sophomore Frank Cascio (Bay Shore, N.Y.). The Hawks Mike McInaw (Maple Glen, PA) responded scoring two straight goals to put St. Joseph's up 2-1 just 26 minutes into the game.

Oddsson knotted the game at two in the 39th minute of play, capping a first half that saw St. Joseph's out shoot Adelphi 11-4. Fortunes were reversed in the second half as the Panthers held a 9-3 edge in shots, but could not find the back of the net. St. Joseph's Kevin Miller (Ambler, PA) scored the game winner in the 76th minute off of a feed from Ian Kane (Newtown, PA).

Senior Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) collected four saves in the loss, while Rob Lavorerio (Millington, NJ) made eight saves.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, September 20 when they play host to Stony Brook at 4:00 pm on Stiles Field.
