Freshman Erin Klimkowski (Westbury, N.Y.) scored Adelphi's first three goals of the game to lead the Panthers to an 8-0 conference win over Dowling College. With the win Adelphi improves to 2-1-1 and starts the season off unbeaten in conference play at 1-0, Dowling remains winless overall and in the conference at 0-3.
Klimkowski opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of action and then erupted over the next ten minutes to score two more, giving the Panthers a 3-0 edge with just over 12 minutes to play in the first half. Senior Lea Brady (Holbrook, N.Y.) closed out the scoring in the first half when she took a Lauren Slattery (Nashua,, N.H.) pass and then beat Dowling goalie Samantha Milholland (North Babylon, N.Y.) to give Adelphi a 4-0 advantage at the half.
The Panthers struck early in the second half as freshman Amanda Rodriguez (Oviedo, FL) sent a free kick off the top of the cross bar and into the Golden Lion goal to make the score 5-0 just 8:33 into the half. Senior Shannon McEntee (Valley Stream, N.Y) got in on the action in the 13th minute to make the score 6-0.
Brady and Viktoria Ebenbeck (Eugene, OR) rounded out the scoring for Adelphi to make the final score 8-0. McEntee picked up the assist on Brady's second goal, while Slattery collected her second assist of the match on Ebenbeck's tally.
Sophomore Christine Conway (Rockville Center, N.Y.) collected one save and her second straight shutout, while Mulholland made four saves.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 17 when they travel to West Chester, Pennsylvania for a 3:30 pm showdown.
