The Bryant University women's soccer team (2-0-1) welcomed second ranked Adelphi University (0-1-1) to Bulldog stadium on a rain soaked Tuesday afternoon. The game finished in 1-1 tie after two overtimes.
The Adelphi Panthers put a goal on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game on a laser by senior Lea Brady (Holbrook, NY) assisted by junior Michelle Giovanniello (Nesconset, NY).
The Bulldogs would tie the game later in the first half on an unassisted goal by freshman Amy Orzechowski (Milford, CT).
Bryant dominated the second half keeping the ball on the Panthers end but could not come up with a goal. The Bulldogs out shot the Panthers 22-8.
Both goalkeepers played tremendous in net with limited visibility due to the rain. Freshman Jessica Neales (Swansea, MA) went the distance for the Bulldogs saving four shots. Sophomore keeper Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, NY) for the Panthers also went the distance and faced an onslaught of shots from the Bulldogs saving 10 shots.
Adelphi returns to action Saturday, September 10, as they host American International in its season home opener at 1:00 p.m. on Stiles Field.
