Garden City, N.Y. -
The Adelphi men's lacrosse team were down early, trailing 8-1 after one quarter of action, but recovered to play the Pioneers even the rest of the way before falling 19-11. With the loss the Panthers end the regular season with a mark of 4-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while C.W. Post improves to 9-4 and 4-1 in the NYCAC.
The fourth ranked Pioneers got three goals from both Jeremy Jablonski (Mastic, N.Y.) and Ralph Carino (Huntington, N.Y.) to stun Adelphi in the first quarter and jump out to an 8-1 lead. The Pioneers pushed their edge to 9-1 just 48 seconds into the second period before Adelphi responded with back-to-back goals from Matt Price (Melbourne, Australia) and Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia).
Jablonski answered right back with two more goals to send the Pioneers into the half with a 12-4 advantage. The Panthers opened up the scoring in the third just 15 seconds in the quarter when Green scored off of a feed from Greg Kalberer (Holbrook, N.Y.). But C.W. Post responded again with three goals to make it a 15-5 game.
The fourth quarter was played much like the previous two, but the Panthers kept attacking the Pioneer goal and it paid off as Adelphi scored three late goals to pull within 19-11, but time expired on the Panther comeback.
